# What is a Cryptocurrency wallet?

Let's start with the basics

## What is a "Crypto Wallet?"

A cryptocurrency wallet is a device, physical medium, program or a service which stores the public and/or private keys for cryptocurrency transactions. Unlike a "normal" wallet, which can hold actual cash, your holdings live on the blockchain, but can only be accessed using a private key, or wallet. Your keys prove your ownership of your digital money and allow you to make transactions securely.

## Why do I need one for NiftyVille?

NiftyVille is an innovative virtual/real-world crossover entertainment platform built with NFTs and fueled by Onessus' $VOID tokens, designed for casual and competitive gamers alike. The game is built by NFTs. It is the first play-to-earn open world game ever released and is integrated with the Ethereum blockchain. In order to interact with the blockchain technology, a wallet is required.

We recommend **Cold storage** (or offline wallets) as they are one of the safest methods for holding various cryptocurrencies. These wallets are not accessible via the Internet.
